Terms to know
- Ta'aruf
- Getting to know someone to consider marriage, following an Islamic approach, within limits and with an elder or coordinator aware. Not a private courtship between two people alone.
- Coordinator
- Someone both sides trust, who acts as the contact channel once an exchange succeeds. Every step of contact goes through each side's coordinator; there is no private channel.
- Basic layer and deeper layer
- The basic layer is visible from the share link right away. The deeper layer only opens up between both sides once they have accepted each other.
- Share link
- A link the profile owner creates and sends only to people they choose. It can carry an expiry date and be closed at any time. The profile never appears on any search page.
- Wali (guardian)
- The woman's religious guardian, who may also act as her coordinator.
- Fitnah
- The risk or harm that comes from contact beyond proper limits. The system routes conversation through a coordinator specifically to reduce this risk.
- Verification badge
- A mark on a profile that has been checked by a real verifier, not self-declared true by the profile owner.
